Here we go with yet another mock draft, the second of three that I’ll post here before the draft officially kicks off in April. Check out version one here.
In this rendition I went against my usual “no trades” rule because I literally see no way the Bills don’t trade up as things stand today. Just hours before officially publishing this mock the Bills happened to make a major move to shake up the roster, while also giving fans an idea of their outlook going into the draft. That move was the trade of Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns for pick 65, the first selection in the third round. I won’t dive into my thoughts too much on the trade because why waste your time? It’s fucking awesome. As I see it this trade leaves Buffalo with two options, one: sign a free agent QB, or two: trade up for your franchise guy. As for Cleveland, they get themselves the classic bridge QB while they develop a young guy. Is that Sam Darnold? Josh Rosen? Baker Mayfield? Josh Allen?
Of course, be ready for free agency to shake things up even more in the coming weeks. For now though, enjoy another mock. Here’s how I think things would play out if the first round happened today.
1] Cleveland Browns – Sam Darnold, QB – USC
2] NY Giants – Saquon Barkley, RB – Penn State
3] Indianapolis Colts – Bradley Chubb, EDGE – NC State
**TRADE** Buffalo Bills trade picks 21, 22, 65 and a 2019 1st Round Pick to the Cleveland Browns for pick 4.
4] Buffalo Bills via Cleveland Browns (via HOU) – Josh Rosen, QB – UCLA
We’ve done it, finally. We made the bold move, traded up and selected my favorite player, and hopefully the apple of Brandon Beane’s eye: Josh Rosen. Rosen is the most polished passer in the draft. His mechanics are near flawless for a guy his age. By making this move, the Bills get themselves a franchise quarterback to build around for the next decade, finally.
5] Denver Broncos – Josh Allen, QB – Wyoming
6] NY Jets – Baker Mayfield, QB – Oklahoma
7] Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Quenton Nelson, OG – Notre Dame
8] Chicago Bears – Tremaine Edmunds, LB – Virginia Tech
9] San Francisco 49ers – Denzel Ward, CB – Ohio State
10] Oakland Raiders – Minkah Fitzpatrick, S – Alabama
11] Miami Dolphins – Roquan Smith, LB – Georgia

13] Washington Redskins – Vita Vea, DT – Washington
14] Green Bay Packers – Harold Landry, EDGE – Boston College
15] Arizona Cardinals – Connor Williams, OT – Texas
16] Baltimore Ravens – Derwin James, S – Florida State
17] LA Chargers – Da’Ron Payne, DT – Alabama
18] Seattle Seahawks – Josh Jackson, CB – Iowa
19] Dallas Cowboys – Taven Bryan, DL – Florida
20] Detroit Lions – Rashaan Evans, LB – Alabama
